ABSTRACT
A fairly solitary student myself and again as a teacher, I was always on the lookout for ways to foster community. Introducing small-group learning into my math classes and collaboration into my workshops and retreats provided opportunities for me to learn about and experience community as well, eventually expanding my notion of community beyond any bounds I’d imagined.
