The nuclear power debate in a narrow political opportunity structure

This chapter is about nuclear power disputes. Compared with GMO and hydropower controversies, the nuclear power debate became an elitist game invisible to the general public. Activists’ rejection of nuclear power has not been translated into media drama and has not shaken public trust in atomic power’s pillar status in nation-building. Here the knowledge-control regime of nuclear power has played a crucial role.
