ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the final OD model I arrived with at the end of my journey and the lessons I learned along the way, with general and specific conclusions. I develop a Matter-Ikigai-Creativity-Appreciative Inquiry (MICAI) intersection model, provide summaries of reflective practices, and answer the question of whether the journey really ends. The final model can be seen as a wheel with six spokes: inquire and discover; self-validation; self-awareness; self-partner; exercise presence and mindfulness; and know oneself through revitalizing, personal growth and integration. The model also takes into account key concepts, for example, “knowing oneself,” humanistic psychology, social psychology, and realizing that life itself is change. These concepts require a regular review of the self with education, growth, and development within society. Specific conclusions constitute the golden thread running through the various models and concepts I used. I discuss how the MICAI intersection model can be used to demonstrate the richness in interweaving concepts and models. I illustrate instances where this model can be applied and provide summaries of reflective practices the readers can take, with several specific examples of simple daily practices that readers can employ. Because most people may not have the time or discipline to embark on a long self-journey of discovery, they may miss the opportunity to do small activities to get started. I “start with one of these simple practices” to experience the power of self-reflection. I remind the reader that the journey is my personal experience and offer suggestions on how the readers might apply it to themselves. I conclude with the caveat that no model is an end in itself, and so continuous revisits are necessary to refresh and validate ourselves.
