ABSTRACT

This chapter examines how deanship roles have changed along with the range of challenges and issues that have been faced as business schools have adapted to environmental, economic and social factors over the last 50 years. The European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) came into being in 1971 through the merger of the International University Contact for Management Education and the European Association of Management Training Centres. Since then, EFMD has stressed its role as Europe’s forum for high-quality networking and worldwide co-operation in management education and development. The chapter aims to identify the timelines and provide insights into the key events in EFMD’s evolution, focusing particularly on the last two decades. It focuses on change innovation and entrepreneurship in our educational approaches. The chapter addresses the realities of competition and strategic change.
