ABSTRACT

This chapter highlights the way both individuals, with their individual agency, and groups, with their social dynamics, are important to successful peacemaking. The chapter presents the practices and theory of building networks for peace as a way of harnessing individual and group efforts for peace. The chapter presents reasons to network generally and in conflict resolution specifically. It highlights the ways multiple actors with different strengths can be complementary to each other in producing a stronger overall peace process than anyone actor would alone. The chapter presents considerations in the establishment and the coordination of networks for peacemaking.
