ABSTRACT
In this chapter, I provide explanations for language and terminologies used in the book, provide examples of what sex work is, and discuss the equity and justice lens that I used to frame the project. I outline the conceptual framework which grounded the methodological approach. I then introduce the topic of sex work and orient the reader to some of the contemporary issues, arguments, and debates. I close the chapter by making connections between prevalent understandings of labor and how that connects to the experiences of sex workers, and what it means for sex work as labor, specifically, which is the bedrock for how we must engage this topic if we hope to do so ethically and with equity and justice in mind.
