ABSTRACT

The object of learning as the foundation for planning and analyzing teaching is discussed in this chapter. The object of learning describes what is to be learned and focuses on the specific subject matter taught. When an object of learning has been decided, it is possible to reflect on what the students need to discern in order to learn it. The object of learning thereby gives direction in teachers' discussions when reflecting upon lessons. In the chapter, the intended, enacted, and lived objects of learning are introduced to differentiate between what is intended to be learned, what is made possible to learn, and what the students learned from the lesson.
