ABSTRACT

This chapter sets out the scene for the book. It introduces the motivation of the study, laying out what led the author to study the implementation of learner-centred pedagogy (LCP) in Tanzania, and more broadly, in the global South. The chapter begins with an explanation of the ostensibly consonant context of Tanzania’s educational development in respect to tenets of LCP. It then surveys the gaps in knowledge which the book aims to fill, leading to the presentation of two research questions. The chapter closes with a roadmap of the book to help readers navigate through the rest of the book.
