ABSTRACT

This chapter introduces the concepts of globalization, internationalization, localization, and translation, and the relationships between them. It explores the question of language varieties (e.g., French and Canadian French) and considers how translators adapt digital products and services, such as websites, software, apps, or videogames, to meet the needs and expectations of audiences in different regions of the world.
