ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book describes the broad context of human development, mental and social functioning in the context of new technologies. It focuses on the discussion on the hybrid of functioning and psychosocial development of modern man in the context of the boundaries between the real and virtual world. The book also focuses on the subject of attachment in the age of digital human functioning. It presents issues related to attachment, interpersonal relations and modern technologies from the perspective of neuroscience. The book highlights the links between new technologies and broadly understood mental health using attachment theory.
