ABSTRACT

The introductory chapter provides the background for the book and outlines its main argument, its theoretical framework, as well as the book structure. The book situates law within the broader field of mobility studies. The aim of the book is to fill in the gap in research on the relationship between law and mobility and understand the multifaceted ways in which law and mobility function together. The book, in particular, calls for shifting the focus from the narrow subject of migration law towards mobility and mobility justice, encompassing the processes, effects, and consequences of movement in a globalized world. The introduction then outlines the preliminary implications of the mobility turn for migration law that are further discussed in the book’s five chapters.
