ABSTRACT
This chapter revolves around the discussion of a specific case study, namely the Museo di Storia della Psichiatria (Museum of the History of Psychiatry) in Reggio Emilia, Italy. It draws upon extensive fieldwork and innovative visitor studies conducted in Reggio Emilia to address key questions posed in this book regarding the interplay between the materiality of the site, associated memories, and the overall museum project within mind museums. The aim is to explore how these elements collectively shape visitors' experiences and their subsequent effects. The examination of the Museo di Storia della Psichiatria serves as a foundation for the book's concluding reflections, specifically pertaining to the complex nature of the heritage of mental health and mind museums and their potential to provide new and productive ways to talk about madness today.
