ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the establishment, maintenance, and fostering of media relations. The chapter first outlines the importance of the news media for informing capital markets and relevant financial stakeholders. Using theories such as agenda building, agenda setting, and framing theory, the chapter explains how the news media can be used for effective financial communication. Lastly, this chapter also puts a special emphasis on the role of financial and business journalism and provides an overview of recent research and practical implications for the work of practitioners in the field of financial communication.
