ABSTRACT
This chapter turns to the strategic management of the financial communication function. It picks up on key responsibilities and objectives established in previous chapters to discuss how a sound management framework can help the financial communication function clarify, improve, and explain its contributions to corporate success and value. This chapter discusses the functional, cognitive, and symbolic benefits of communication management. It explores the complexities of managing financial communication across departmental boundaries (integrated communication) – and it discusses insights from the management and communication literature to explain how communication management can ensure and improve effective financial communication.
