ABSTRACT

The chapter argues that the existence of spirits is more probable if God exists. As a result, arguments for the existence of God can provide support for the existence of spirits. The argument consists of three sub-arguments. The first argues that a higher probability of God's existence shows that there likely is a supernatural realm. If such a supernatural realm exists, the existence of spirits is less surprising. The second argument argues that an omnibenevolent God can be expected to make use of spiritual messengers to reach humans. If such a God likely exists, spirits who serve as messengers likely exist as well. The third argument argues that the existence of spirits is more probable if sacred scriptures are reliable. Sacred scriptures are more reliable if God exists. All arguments jointly and independently support the existence of spirits if God exists.
