ABSTRACT

This chapter presents the research method used for this book. It starts out by describing the epistemic reflections that informed the research process. The phenomena of politico-ideological mobilisation and violence are studied through analysis of original narratives, collected using semi-structured interviews in Lebanon, Switzerland and Canada. A total of 109 interviewees were recruited for this study, 58 having engaged in PIM or PIV and 51 experts. Short descriptions of all interviewees are provided to convey an impression of the different trajectories, ideological orientations, and profiles of interviewees. Complementary data was collected in the form of fieldnotes and autoethnographic writing.
