ABSTRACT

Since the adoption of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in 2015, localization has increasingly been recognized as a strong driver of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The emerging role of SDG localization has expressed itself in countries across Asia and the Pacific; however, a holistic approach is needed to promote multi-level governance and policy coherence across government levels. This chapter elaborates on the “enabling environment” needed for successfully localizing the SDGs. Progress of the localizing SDG agenda is discussed in view of the COVID-19 pandemic and its implications in Asia and the Pacific.
