ABSTRACT
This chapter presents an overview of the relevant legal and governance frameworks that provide an international context—in particular the 2030 Agenda with its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the New Urban Agenda, and the Paris Agreement—the key provisions of constitutions and national legislative acts in the five states of our case study cities, and selected local level governance instruments that provide guidance for the implementation in the seven case study cities. Given the conceptual model introduced in Chapter 3, this chapter analyses our interview data in light of the respective national contexts and local discourses.
