ABSTRACT

This chapter introduces the notion of verbalisation, focusing on its internal morphological components and setting the background for the discussion. Topics discussed here include the different types of verbs, the spell out procedure assumed in this monograph and the relations between adjectives, nouns and prepositions, specifically claiming that adjectives in Spanish are nouns introduced by prepositions; from here it is possible to deduce that the syntactic space of an adjective is bigger than the one of a noun, and both are smaller than verbs.
