ABSTRACT
This chapter analyses verbalisations in -ear. The two main properties of verbalisations containing this suffix are that parasynthetic forms are only found with nominal bases and that, excluding a small set of change of state predicates, the resulting verbs are atelic and have a manner component. The analysis argues that this verbaliser spells out a little p head with manner information, explaining the verbal types, with the consequence that the only material left for a prefix to spell out would be the lexical P layer, restricted to nominal bases.
