ABSTRACT

Chapter 6 outlines the seven principles that underpin bluefield housing: the facilitation of sharing; the avoidance of land division in favour of a design-led whole-of-site approach; the retention and adaptation of original housing into smaller accommodation; the creation of additional housing through leveraging the existing pattern of alterations and additions; the creation of housing in a flat hierarchy rather than as ‘accessory’ housing; the maximising of shared landscape; and the incorporation of sustainable design principles.
