ABSTRACT

Chapter 17 describes the utility held in various forms of architectural diagrams and drawings, including overarching isometric three-dimensional models, orthographic architectural projections, and furnished floorplans, landscape plans, and site plans. The chapter outlines two design exercises that focus on the floor plan as a means of understanding dwelling occupation. Both concentrate on the single room, beginning with a bottom-up mapping of the spatial requirements for living, followed by a top-down programming of a given space.
