ABSTRACT
Most countries in the Global North have an infant or child health surveillance service available to families from the birth of their baby for the first few years. Such services are usually staffed by qualified nurses or midwives who have additional training in child development, and who provide care to support families with issues around infant weight gain and growth, feeding, sleep, development, vaccinations, and parental mental health. There is a dearth of literature examining how these services work with LGBTQ+ families. This chapter will look at issues connected to the training and knowledge of such staff, and will provide good/bad policy and practice examples.
