ABSTRACT

This chapter concludes that without the WGC’s feminist presence in the UNFCCC the institution would not be as advanced in its process of gender mainstreaming. Certainly, this work has come at a cost as has been documented in existing literature on feminist environmental resistance. This chapter also highlights several original contributions stemming from this research: an empirical contribution through highlighting the importance of feminist activism in shaping the history of the UNFCCC; a theoretical contribution through my framework of ecofeminist intersectionality that demonstrates the importance of including the natural world, including the Earth’s climate system, in intersectional analysis; and a political contribution to the future of the feminist climate project.
