ABSTRACT

This chapter shifts the discussion from the what and why of compassion to the how of compassion, meaning how we set the stage for launching a compassionate life journey filled with harmony and joy. The chapter highlights three specific techniques vital for this journey. The first technique is to make space for compassion by decluttering personal space. Decluttering includes both the clutter in the physical space in which we live and work and the mental clutter that can cloud our thinking and clog our minds. The second technique is to make space for compassion by reframing or reinterpreting events through a positive rather than a negative lens. The third technique is to set our intention by building on a disciplined resolve and desired actions. Throughout this chapter, tips and exercises are suggested for trying out some of these techniques.
