ABSTRACT
The social justice stratagem used by many women’s funds has three parts: addressing immediate needs; supporting self-sufficiency; and leveraging systems change. This chapter tells the stories of women’s funds’ strategic response to crises that disproportionately impact women such as Hurricane Katrina and the COVID-19 pandemic. This chapter explores the initiatives women’s funds support, including the Nigerian Lady Mechanic Initiative, which create economic security by supporting the leadership and solutions of those most affected.
