ABSTRACT

What exactly is it that faith actors bring to the field of development? Are their contributions any different from those of non-faith actors and, if so, how are they different? The specific characteristics of faith actors can be grouped along “formal” and “material” lines. This chapter first looks at the potentials that faith actors bring to the field of development, followed by a discussion of problems associated with them such as proselytisation and the incompatibility with certain SDGs.
