ABSTRACT

Chapter Seven, “Everyday evaluation”, is about reflecting, tracking, and sharing activist efforts. It tackles the question, Am I making a difference? It emphasises the value of evidence-based strategies for reflecting on whether you are doing more harm than good and for maximising effectiveness. Evaluation is highlighted as a tool that can assist in measuring and articulating change. The chapter provides actionable guidance to support everyday activists to consider the big picture and articulate how activities will contribute to higher level outcomes and goals. It guides activists in gathering relevant data and understanding the value of their actions. The concept of knowledge translation is introduced to outline how to condense insights into digestible content and strategically share evidence to turn dissemination into an act of activism.
