ABSTRACT
Building and strengthening a competitive advantage based on knowledge in the context of constant change and globalization of the economy is becoming the only effective action for organizations that want to survive and grow in these challenging conditions. This is one of the premises explaining the growing demand for knowledge and interest in cooperation with knowledge providers, including universities. Another important rationale is the rapid development of information and communication technologies. It causes the modern information society to report an increasing demand for science, technology, and knowledge and thus to seek their sources. The purpose of this chapter is to outline the university's position as an actor in the development processes of the knowledge economy, taking into account the transformation of the university into an entrepreneurial organization. The chapter analyzes the determinants of the development of inter-organizational cooperation between universities and enterprises in the knowledge economy.
