ABSTRACT

The current chapter is a summary that brings to the forefront some comparisons of the most valuable rich traditions and systems across the religions on food sharing. It highlights the significance of these traditions in bringing about social equity, harmony, and inclusiveness in society. Further, it provides a summary and insights into the current practices of anna-daan, also ways to strengthen the current systems given that there can be some concerns highlighted across religions in the current institutional arrangements. While the systems are overall good, ways to make them great in terms of exhibiting the spirit behind these traditions are important. It will also discuss a way forward to understand other less prominent religions and their perspectives on food sharing and practices. Further discussing the possibilities to make it a global study and its relevance in understanding the contribution of such traditions to food security and meeting the SDG 2 Zero Hunger.
