ABSTRACT

Lead contamination adversely affects human health. There is no safe level of lead in the human body. Children in particular are more susceptible as they ingest more food and water and breathe more air in relation to their body size than adults. Prevention is the only effective way to ward off the damage caused by lead poisoning. In this chapter, we describe the sources of lead contamination, its impact on children, and resulting environmental health injustice. Finally, we recommend measures to prevent health risks of lead exposure in the context of Nepal.
