This chapter is a commentary on Chapter 12: Gender and its Relevance to Sentence. This commentary welcomes the Bill as a satisfactory middle ground between pragmatism and creativity, noting multiple failings of the criminal justice system for women, and suggesting that more radical change would involve abolition or a wholesale shift from retribution to rehabilitation.
