ABSTRACT
In this chapter, we argue for amendments to the Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities Act 2006 to repeal provisions which undermine equality, while also introducing new rights and embedding a gender perspective into the examination of the scope of rights. The proposed reforms operate in conjunction with the reforms set out in Chapter 6. Working together, the two Bills embody the praxis of translating an understanding of the causes and consequences of gendered harm into laws which work to dismantle structural gender inequality, empower women and provide effective remedies for human rights violations.
