ABSTRACT
This chapter addresses the metaethics of moral progress. Realists about moral value argue that historical moral convergence can only be explained by the existence of objective moral facts. The chapter argues that increasing moral agreement is largely a myth, because people already agree on the most fundamental moral values, such that there is no convergence for the moral realist to explain at all. The main moral changes are about different institutional implementations of those values.
