ABSTRACT
Poland’s legal system is based on Roman codified law, meaning it does not follow the concept of precedent but instead relies on legal norms established by authorised legislative entities. The Constitution of the Republic of Poland, adopted on 2 April 1997 (as amended, 2009), is the country’s most significant legal document. It upholds the principles of a democratic rule of law, including national sovereignty, the rule of law, the separation of powers, and pluralism.
