ABSTRACT
Artificial intelligence (AI) is a topic that has received a great deal of attention in the past couple of years, as new products in this area of technology have been made available to a broad spectrum of the public. This chapter puts AI into a broader context and provides a perspective on how adoption of the different types of AI will affect the global economy and society as a whole. Specific topics addressed in the article include:
Business strategies that are impacted by AI;
How those strategies will affect employment globally;
How the education of today’s youth aligns with future employment opportunities;
How the distribution of wealth from the owners of AI and AI platforms will affect society’s structure at multiple levels;
How policy choices today around managing AI will affect the planet’s future.
