ABSTRACT
Chapter 3 introduces basic concepts of Capture the Flag (CTFs) as games and as processes of recuperation of research labour in cybersecurity science. Using ethnographic study of CTFs, this chapter contributes to debates around infrastructures and their connections with cybersecurity science. Chapter 3 also briefly summarises adoption of CTFs by commercial and government actors, showing how such adoption practices can be read as a recuperation of professional culture through gamified exploitation of unpaid labour.
