ABSTRACT
To complete our examination of Singaporeans’ wellbeing holistically, Chapter 3 focuses on the affective aspects of wellbeing. In the 2022 QOL Survey, we measured affective wellbeing as the extent to which Singaporeans feel a sense of happiness, enjoyment, accomplishment, control and purpose in their lives. Psychological flourishing was another important aspect of affective wellbeing that was measured through the Flourishing Scale. Across all indicators of affective wellbeing, we observed a significant decline in Singaporeans’ wellbeing when comparing results of the 2022 QOL Survey with the 2011 QOL Survey and the 2016 QOL Survey, respectively. Large demographic differences were observed in affective wellbeing in the 2022 QOL Survey.
