ABSTRACT
The built environment is a key factor in dementia-specific care in nursing homes, but it is difficult to assess and evaluate, due to its complexity. In this contribution, we share our experience in adapting an established assessment tool for dementia-sensitive environments to a new context. We report on who we involved, as well as the impact this had on the latter environmental evaluation tool. Also, we reflect on what we have learnt: the need to listen to the perspectives of residents with dementia in nursing homes.
