ABSTRACT
This chapter focuses on the practical implications of some of the youth-led projects developed by Changing the Story, in particular returning to the question of ‘entrepreneurialism’. On the one hand, this chapter explores how arts-based projects can support participants to develop new, creative approaches to the concrete problems they face as young people living in conflict-affected contexts, from Venezuela to Zimbabwe, through the promotion of collective voice. Specifically, this chapter addresses the issue of youth un- and underemployment, which we look at through the lens of social enterprise. However, this chapter also reiterates the limitations of entrepreneurialism, again emphasising the need for any form of social enterprise to be embedded in a wider infrastructure not only to ensure that it is sustainable in business terms, but also that it is providing the necessary systemic support that young people require if they are to thrive.
