ABSTRACT
This chapter introduces the Linking Ages perspective, which understands ‘age’ as a relational category of difference produced in transitions. Using empirical material from four research projects, which were developed within the DFG Research Training Group Doing Transitions, it will be shown how Linking Ages can be conceptualised and realised in research practice. Through an interpretative ‘change of sign’, Linking Ages challenges traditional perspectives with the help of a methodological experiment in an interdisciplinary interpretation group. The chapter ends with a reflection on the limits and potentials of Linking Ages, as well as its significance for reflexive transition research.
