ABSTRACT
In this chapter, we explain why QuantCrit is a necessary methodological intervention. We begin with a historical overview of quantitative methodologies and their entanglements with white supremacism and eugenics. We then turn to the development of critical quantitative methodologies in general. Next, we provide a brief survey of the development and tenets of Critical Race Theory (CRT), on which QuantCrit is based. Finally, we briefly review the development and tenets of QuantCrit and provide an overview of the book.
