ABSTRACT
The EVE concepts described in Chapters 4–6 are the most influential in the environmental discourse. In Chapter 7, I present an analysis of these approaches, focusing on their strengths and weaknesses. Even though I perceive these three approaches as great inspiration for myself and for further development of EVE, there are some areas that could be elaborated more or that make these concepts difficult to follow. One of my considerations is whether Thoreau’s approach could serve as a moral compass in today’s consumerist societies because the moral standard he set is so high that it seems unachievable by many members of modern society.
