ABSTRACT
Life Savings is a proof-of-concept project designed to test approaches for working across disciplines in the development of a 15-minute film. This project is mentioned across several chapters within this book. Working on the film together as colleagues and with students led to a range of experiences both practical and relational that has proven to be thought provoking and useful in our current practice. Since The Void (a virtual production facility) is a new space for us to engage in both theory and practice together, the benefits of a team project included unexpected outcomes, for example, a chance to demonstrate a range of languages of appreciation that led to a deeper collegiality in our workplace. This chapter explores technical production, student projects, and teamwork between colleagues in different disciplines at Flinders University that were all facilitated by having The Void as a production space on campus.
