ABSTRACT
The AI Act is a landmark in the legal governance of this emerging technology, but it also embeds a set of values and turns them into legally binding norms. 1 It thus becomes a normative project in line with the fundamental ethical values of the Union. Some of them are explicitly named and regulated in the text of the AI Act. 2 The others can be extracted and interpreted from the body of the AI Act. The goal in this sectionr is to provide an overview of the most important values enshrined in the AI Act. This is intended to serve as a summary of and reference for the many issues already discussed in this book, with the aim of systematising the most important values which received a normative power through the provisions of the AI Act.
