ABSTRACT

This chapter provides pedagogical implications and sample activities for STEM English education in a Hong Kong university. Due to the influence of Generative AI on language education, the discussion in the chapter focuses on integrating Generative AI tools into teaching compulsory tasks in a STEM English course. The course setting is introduced at the beginning followed by a discussion of Generative AI and English teaching. Next, sample activities are presented for two STEM tasks: a speaking task (technical discussion) and a writing task (technical progress reports). Last, additional pedagogical guidelines are provided for STEM English teaching outside this particular course setting.
