ABSTRACT
This chapter examines how interaction is built in Spanish YouTubers’ discourses. Exchanges in YouTube are digitally mediated. Thus, they could be associated to communicative distance. However, YouTubers often deploy a strategic action to represent a fictional dialogue with their audience. Through the analysis of four divulgative videos, four strategical lines were identified: the use of speech acts directed towards the audience, the appearance of macroestructural units such as discursive markers, the strategic use of personal deixis and the polyphonic evocation of the discourse of other enunciators to represent realistic dialogues between them. This action turns their monologues into strongly interactive and dialogical discourses that explain the recent success of content creators.
