ABSTRACT
The opening chapter of the book firstly introduces the epistemological commitment of the book towards emerging feminist peace from below and praxis of મેઙ઼ાવો meḍavo, dialogue and consultation in Kachchhi language, used to mediate between the rulers and the people. Secondly, the chapter provides a contextualised introduction to the 2001 Kachchh earthquake, the urban planning, and the establishment of temporary shelter neighbourhood – Haṅgāmī Āvās – the focus of this book. Thirdly, the chapter discusses the wider debates on feminist peace research in inequalities and violence, making a call for the analysis of cascading complex of violence. Finally, the chapter provides the organisation of the rest of the book.
