ABSTRACT
Dr Frances Horsham is a much-loved psychiatrist renowned for her generous spirit. As she nears the end of a long and rewarding career in private practice she reflects on her life, describing a serious accident and s
ubsequent depression that interrupted her medical school training. She was fearful of psychiatry due to mental illness in her family. But overcoming her own depression and her love of listening to people led her to realize that a career in psychiatry would be a good fit. She has no regrets.
