ABSTRACT
Dr Andrew Bart is a geriatrician and the dean of a large medical school. He cares about the learning environment and helping students develop a good work-life balance and adapt to their new lives in medicine. His vivid memories of mentors in his student days and residency have made him deeply empathetic to medical students’ struggles. Dr Bart’s role models in medical school were remarkable physicians who cared for older people and motivated him to follow the same path. He’s loved his career choice as a geriatrician, despite it not being as lucrative as others. Dr Bart was always a high achiever, top of his class, but like so many students had to reassess his abilities when he entered medical school.
